Instruction Settings

The Instruction Settings tab in the Page Properties pane gives access to the following settings to determine how the instruction box is presented on the current page:

Instruction text

The instructions to present on the page. When this control is active, toolbars become available allowing you to change font settings (size, font, style etc).

The initial font settings are determined in the Basic Settings tab of the Project Settings dialogue box.

As you enter text in the Instruction text field, it will appear in the instruction box on the Design Area preview.

Example text

Example text is appended to the instruction box and should be used to define any instructions pertinent to the example being used to demonstrate the functionality being described.

Segregating the specific example text from the generic instruction text means that it can be excluded when published to a medium that doesn't either lend itself or allow for a worked example e.g. a user manual or mobile friendly output.

Instruction text and Example text in use:

Page Type

Choose the type of page (Explain, Guide, Demo, Practice, Test) this will effect the colour and title of the instruction box.

Width

Set the width in pixels of the instruction box.

X pos

Set the horizontal pixel location of the (top left corner of the) Instruction box, measured from the left edge of the page.

Y pos

Set the vertical pixel location of the (top left corner of the) Instruction box, measured from the top edge of the page.

TIP: The position of the instruction box can be set more easily by dragging the instruction box in the Design Area.

Include Next button

Unchecking this will hide the Next button on the page. When setting this, there must be an alternative method for navigating away from the page (completing an interaction, for example).

Copy Previous

Clicking Copy Previous will copy the Instruction box and all of its properties from the previous page. This is very useful when setting up an interaction that is spread across multiple pages.
