The Development Log is available for some courses and activities. It allows you to plan and record development interventions that are undertaken outside of the current course or activity, that contribute to or provide evidence of related development.

The development log is split between a Planned activity grid and a Complete activity grid.

  • Planned activity grid

The grid provides the following tools for each of the listed planned activities:

Edit - allows you to alter details of the planned activity (only available if you logged the activity yourself)

Download Calendar Appointment - uses the information about the planned activity to generate an e-Calendar appointment - save this to your Outlook (or similar) Calendar to receive a reminder of the planned activity.

Join Skype Call (Beta) - provides options for joining a supervision session.

Mark Complete - Opens up a form to allow you to record the activity as complete. When Planned activities are marked as complete, they will move to the Complete activity grid.

Archive - Archives the planned activity (and deletes any associated evidence files, if applicable).

Expand - expands the row to show details of the Outcomes of the activity and the course requirements to which it has been linked. If evidence file upload is available, the interface for uploading and viewing uploaded files will also be displayed.

To add a planned activity:

  1. Click the Add Planned button.
  2. Complete the form to record details of the planned activity.
  • If the activity is a DLS course, related information will be populated to the form. The system will also enrol you on that course and set the completion date to the date specified under Due Date and Time. On completion of the course, the planned activity will automatically be marked as complete.
  • If the facility has been configured, you may have the option to upload evidence files against this development log item after creating it.
  1. Click Submit.

If you indicated that you wished to upload evidence files, the interface for uploading them will be displayed, otherwise the activity will be added to your planned activity list.

  • Complete activity grid

The grid provides the following tools for each of the listed completed activities:

Edit - allows you to alter details of the activity (only available if you logged the activity yourself).

Archive - Archives the activity (and deletes any associated evidence files, if applicable).

Expand - expands the row to show details of the Outcomes of the activity and the course requirements to which it has been linked. If evidence file upload is available, the interface for uploading and viewing uploaded files will also be displayed.

To add a completed activity:

  1. Click the Add Completed button.
  2. Complete the form to record details of the activity.
  • If the completed activity was a DLS course, related information will be populated to the form.
  • If the facility has been configured, you may have the option to upload evidence files against this development log item after creating it.
  1. Click Submit.

If you indicated that you wished to upload evidence files, the interface for uploading them will be displayed, otherwise the activity will be added to your planned activity list.

Note: Planned and Completed activities can be linked to course requirements. When undertaking a skills assessment, if the development log is available, the activities linked to the requirements for that skill will be displayed in the Review Skill interface along with buttons allowing linked log items to be added.
