Customisation Options
The Edit Course form is split into three panels:
Course Details
Course name
Allows you to set a course name (this cannot be blank or "New") choose something that will help delegates identify the course.
Password
Allows you to set an optional, additional course password. This should only be used if there is a need to control access to a course, for example for assessment purposes.
CC Completion Notification
When a delegate completes a course (meets the completion criteria specified - see Course Options below) a notification email will be triggered. If you require a CC (carbon copy) of this email to be sent to another email address for admin purposes (e.g. to allow an administrator to grant access to a system for which the user is now trained), specify the address here. Leave blank if no CC email is required.
Course Options
Active - the course will not be available for new delegate registrations if this box is unchecked.
Allow self-registration - if checked, delegates without a Digital Learning Solutions login will be able to register themselves using a link on the course login screen.
Hide in Learning Portal - if checked, this course will not be discoverable in the Available Courses tab in the Learning Portal for your centre (see Learning Portal Configuration)
Include post learning assessment (if available) - if checked, post learning assessments will be included in the course, successful completion of all assessments will be required in order to complete the course.
If Include post learning assessment is unchecked, Required learning and Required diagnostic will be displayed. Use these to set the amount of learning the delegate needs to complete and / or the diagnostic assessment score they need to achieve in order to complete the course.
Learning Pathway Defaults
These options can be used to set:
Complete within # months - a period of time that the course should be completed within. This will be used to calculate a complete by date whenever a delegate is enrolled on this course.
Mandatory - whether completion of this course is mandatory. If it is then the delegate will not be able to remove this course from their course list.
Completion valid for # months - a period of time after completion for which the delegate will be considered compliant with this learning requirement. This is useful for statutory / mandatory training which usually has a validity period. This will also be used to measure compliance for compliance reports.
Auto-refresh - if checked, the learner will automatically be enrolled on another course either when the course is complete or, if it has been specified, when the validity period has expired.
Course to refresh to (only visible when Auto-refresh is checked) - the course that the learner will be enrolled on when the auto-refresh is triggered.
Enrol on refresher # months before expiry (only visible when Auto-refresh is checked) - use this to optionally specify the number of months prior to the validity period ending that enrolment on the refresher course will occur.
TIP: Using the Learning Pathway Default settings will allow you to automatically handle the requirements of statutory / mandatory training and any other training that requires refreshing. These settings will also provide the basis for compliance reporting - reports showing which delegates have completed the required training and are compliant with their learning requirements.
Course Admin Fields
Course Admin Fields provides up to 3 additional fields to store useful data against delegate course progress. This data can be managed by administrators in the Course Delegates view. To request additions to the list of available fields, please raise a ticket. These can be used, for example, to allow administrators to keep track of the access permissions granted to a user after completion of a course. To configure an admin field, choose the prompt from the Field drop down list and optionally provide a list of options for that field (each option should be on a new line).
Course Content
The Course Content panel allows you to select which Diagnostic and Learning content will be included in the course by Section or by Tutorial.
- Use the + expander button next to a section to reveal the tutorials within the section.
- Use the checkboxes under Diagnostic and Learning to determine whether each section / tutorial should be included.
