The Learning Menu
When you launch a course from the Learning Portal, you will be taken to the Learning Menu for that course.
The Learning Menu Header
The learning menu header gives the name of the course and average course length as well as providing the following:
- The name of the organisation or centre you are accessing the course under.
- The name and contact details for your course Supervisor (if you have been assigned one).
Below the header are buttons to access useful tools and functions including:
- Depending on the content available in the course, tutorial videos will be available below the course heading explaining how to use it's components.
- The App Selector button to access other areas of the DLS platform and manage your delegate details
- If you have been enrolled on the course as a cohort you will see the My Group button which will give you access to:
- a list of learners in your cohort
- details of your cohort supervisor (if assigned)
- access to an expanding array of collaborative learning tools
- The Close or Logout button (depending upon whether the learning menu was launched from the Learning Portal or accessed directly)
Learning Content
Each course is split into one or more sections. Click the expand + button to expand each section.
Each section may contain the following:
- Diagnostic Assessment
This will test your knowledge and skills against the objectives for the section. After completing it, the tutorials in the section will be marked as optional or recommended according to how well you performed against their objectives in the diagnostic assessment.
Click the green launch button to launch the Diagnostic Assessment:
- Tutorials
Each tutorial can contain any combination of the following components:

Clicking this button will display a list of the objectives for the tutorial. |

Video |
Launches an instructional video covering the tutorial objectives. |

E-learning Tutorial |
Launches an e-learning tutorial covering the tutorial objectives. |
|
Supporting Information |
Opens supporting information (web content, pdf document etc) related to the tutorial. |
- Post Learning Assessment
This will test your knowledge of the objectives for all of the tutorials in the section.
Click the green launch button to launch the Post Learning Assessment:
If included, once all of the assessments for a course have been passed, a certificate of achievement will be available.
- Consolidation Exercise
Some courses include consolidation exercises that can be downloaded to provide additional practice of the skills covered in the section, usually in real world scenarios.
Click the download button to download the Consolidation Exercise:
Completion Panel
At the bottom of the learning menu is the Completion Panel.
This displays:
- your current course completion status
- the criteria required to complete the course
- buttons to access to your learning summary (and evaluation / certificate if complete and applicable)
Click the expand + button in the Completion Panel to see more detail of your overall achievements for the course.
